Hi, we’re Amity Builders!
At Amity Builders, we are committed to elevating Australian industry standards by building high-performance and Passivhaus homes. Our focus is on building comfortable, healthy, durable and energy-efficient homes.
We pride ourselves on our conscious and considered approach to construction, ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of quality and durability. Our team is passionate about innovation, collaboration, and delivering exceptional results for our amazing clients.
About the role
We’re after a skilled and motivated Carpenter that’s 3+ years post-trade, with custom home experience. As Carpenter, you will be responsible for being on the tools, collaborating on highly detailed projects, and maintaining a positive, tidy and well-run job site alongside the team. You’ll be doing carpentry work specific to Passivhaus standards, so your eagerness and ability to learn are a must.
Here’s what you’ll get up to:
Day-to-day onsite quality carpentry work - from earthworks, formwork, subfloors, frames, steel, claddings, lock up, fix out, roofing - we do it all
Collaborate closely with Todd and the rest of the team to deliver projects to a high standard, on time and within budget
Interpret plans and specifications to ensure accurate project execution
Mentor and guide less experienced team members - we have a culture of knowledge sharing and expect you to teach our apprentices how to be great carpenters
Minor estimation of materials, labour, and project timelines
Working with Todd, take initiative in planning and managing tasks and materials 2-3 days ahead of time
Maintain a safe, organised and tidy work environment, adhering to all carpentry principles, building codes, and safety regulations
Demonstrate good communication, respect, and kindness to everyone (from apprentices to subcontractors and everyone in between) as a representative for Amity Builders both on site and during team off sites (lunches, holiday parties, networking events, etc.)
About you
You take pride in your work: You see carpentry as an art form and treat your craft and the job site with pride and respect
You’re a natural problem solver: You see challenges as opportunities and enjoy coming up with efficient solutions
You’re practical, without compromising quality: You consider both functionality and form, valuing high quality and durability
You’re a strong communicator: You know good communication is key to maintaining healthy workplace relationships, aren’t afraid to ask questions, and you own your mistakes
You’re a team player: You’re united through a common goal and share in both successes and flops with the team
You’re a lifelong learner: You have a thirst for knowledge but are humble in knowing you don’t know everything, and neither do we
You care about impact: You consider the short and long term effects of your actions and strive to leave a positive mark on people, the building industry and the environment
