Why I build healthy and comfortable homes in the Illawarra

Hi, I’m Todd. In 2022 I learned the shocking truth about the health and quality of the houses I’d been building for over a decade.

Despite my best efforts to produce the highest quality work, I was working against the laws of physics and building houses that were fundamentally flawed.

How?

Although the Australian Standards for building are improving, it turns out they remain inadequate for our needs. Thanks to these standards, most of us live in homes that are leaky, uncomfortable, and unhealthy; even when they’re new.

When you look at the science, it’s easy to see why.

After becoming a certified Passive House builder, I knew: if I couldn't build to a higher standard, I didn’t want to build at all.

At Amity Builders, we take a conscious and considered approach to building comfortable, healthy, and energy-efficient Passive House and high performance homes in Wollongong and the greater Illawarra.
