Hi, we’re Amity Builders!
At Amity Builders, we are committed to elevating Australian industry standards by building quality, high-performance homes in a respectful way in the Illawarra and South Coast region. Our focus is on building comfortable, healthy, long lasting and energy-efficient homes.
We pride ourselves on our conscious and considered approach to construction, ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of quality and durability. Our team is passionate about innovation, collaboration, and delivering exceptional results for our amazing clients.
About the role
We’re after a skilled and motivated Lead Carpenter to join our team and work alongside Todd, our Builder/Director. This role is crucial in helping us further our mission to elevate Australian building industry standards by empowering homeowners to make smarter, more informed choices for their health and comfort.
As a Lead Carpenter, you will be responsible for being on the tools, ensuring our projects are completed to Amity Builders' high standards, and helping mentor junior team members. This role requires carpentry work specific to Passive House and high-performing home standards, so your eagerness and ability to learn are essential.
Here’s what you’ll get up to:
Day-to-day onsite carpentry work - from earthworks, formwork, subfloors, frames, steel, claddings, lock up, fix out, roofing - we do it all
Collaborate closely with Todd and the rest of the team to deliver projects on time and within budget
Lead and supervise our core team including our apprentice and labourer, as well as subcontractors on occasion, effectively delegating tasks and overseeing work required onsite
Interpret plans and specifications to ensure accurate project execution
Mentor and guide less experienced team members - we have a culture of knowledge sharing and expect you to teach our apprentices how to be great carpenters
Minor estimation of materials, labour, and project timelines with our project management team
Maintain a safe, organised and tidy work environment, adhering to all carpentry principles, building codes, and safety regulations
Demonstrate good communication, respect, and kindness to everyone (from apprentices to subcontractors and everyone in between) as a representative for Amity Builders both on site and during team off sites (lunches, holiday parties, networking events, etc.)
About you
